Lexus Luxury

The new 2010 Lexus IS-F is the brand’s first attempt at creating a performance machine to rival the German juggernaut. The car started life as an IS350, so we didn’t have high hopes for it right off the bat. The normal IS is a reliable and capable sports sedan; boring and plain in mostly every way. Then, it found the steroid cabinet.

The IS-F is very interesting to say the least. It’s got bulging front fenders, a 416 horsepower mountain of power, an eight-speed transmission, and a hard ride that would scare away most Lexus owners.

A useful car to Lexus? No, not even close. As pointless things go, the IS-F is on top of the pile. But, it makes a little sense when you remember that the one major flaw with the company was that it could never rival the Germans and their high-performance sedans. The sort of cars that sell in small numbers, but help automakers land big spots on automotive magazines and websites, like this one for example.

RAV4 and Lexus RX Electric Car

RAV4 and Lexus RX Electric Car

Toyota's cooperation with the United States electric carmaker, Tesla Motors Inc., began to show results. Agreed, RAV4 and Lexus RX models will be produced in an electric version. Tesla-party states, two prototype models will be sent to Toyota this month as well. According to internal company sources, as reported by Bloomberg, today, the previous Toyota also wants to try the battery on the Corolla Altis. However, the RAV4 and the RX is more compatible with the weights held Tesla battery so that both are selected.

Previously, the boss of Toyota Motor Company Akio Toyoda said, cooperation with Tesla became one of the agenda to achieve the latest technology in the automotive sector. Toyota also pour funds worth 50 million U.S. dollars to buy shares in Tesla at the beginning of this month.

"We try to anticipate the accelerated development of electric vehicles in this segment," said Elon Musk, Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, without explaining further details. Separately, Toyota spokesman, Keisuke Kirimoto, also still shut my mouth. "Until now there has been no decision relating to the model to be developed toward electric vehicles," he said.

Currently, Toyota is also working with Panasonic to produce batteries in bulk. However, partnering with Tesla will create Japan's largest car manufacturer is more to know the strengths and weaknesses of each battery to be used in its products.

The Lexus LFA is powered by a 72° 4.8-liter V10 engine equipped with dual VVT-i carrying the 1LR-GUE designation with a maximum output of 560 PS (412 kW) delivered at 8,700 rpm. Its maximum torque output of 354 lb·ft (480 N·m) arrives at 6,800 rpm, 90 percent of which is available from 3,700 rpm. The engine redlines at 9,000 rpm, but with a fuel cutoff set at 9,500 rpm.

Lexus LFA is finally here at the. All of which makes it harder to stomach that the car shown here isn't expected to reach customer garages until early 2011. The specifications of the new rear-drive Lexus supercar are impressive enough: a 4. 8-liter v10 with 560 ps (552 bhp), 354 lb-ft torque, a zingy 9,000 rpm redline, six-speed sequential gearbox, 0-62 mph in 3. 7 seconds, and a top speed of 202 mph. It looks amazing too, both in. Gallery: see Lexus lf-a photos.

Lexus LFA is capable of 202 mph. But here are 10 things we bet you don't know. Two separate ducts route intake noise into the firewall from the intake manifold, allowing two different octaves of engine music to penetrate the passenger compartment. As a result, the LFA's engine note dominates the driving experience. Developed in conjunction with Yamaha's musical instrument division, engineers tuned the LFA's engine note the same way sound is tuned in an ovation guitar. Uniquely shaped ribs in the intake manifold cover are designed precisely to produce a pleasing engine note.

Lexus LFA Supercar

Lexus LFA is powered by a bespoke, high-revving 552bhp 4. 8-liter naturally aspirated v10 engine, matched to a rear-mounted six-speed sequential automatic transmission, giving 200mph-plus performance. In the words of chief engineer Haruhiko Tanahashi: "the Lexus LFA is a thoroughbred supercar, a machine engineered to achieve a single goal - to deliver a supreme driving experience. Over the past decade we have pushed every boundary in pursuit of this goal and i believe we have created the most driver-orientated car we possibly could. Keeping the car's weight to an absolute minimum was one of the defining elements in the development of the Lexus LFA and this led to the decision to switch from using aluminum for the car's construction to advanced carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the chassis and bodywork. Moreover, Lexus decided the CFRP structure should be built in-house rather than by a third-party supplier. In doing so, it drew on Toyota motor corporation's heritage in textile weaving technology to push the boundaries of its technical abilities, developing new carbon fiber looms and a laser system for monitoring the integrity of the material.

Lexus LFA Roadster

Lexus LFA is the powerplant, which consists of a high-revving, mid-mounted, 552 horsepower, 4. 8-liter v10 engine mated to a six-speed paddle-shifted transmission, giving the LFA a top speed of 202 mph. Power will be routed strictly to the rear wheels, and carbon-ceramic brakes ensure the car's ability to stop on a dime. The interior seats two, and is finished with carbon fiber accents, a futuristic floating center console, and some of the coolest gauges this side of Aston Martin. Lexus is taking orders for the LFA beginning today, with a price tag of around $350,000 - $375,000, depending on options. A fairly steep price, but considering its rarity, could instantly turn into a collector car. Check out the photo gallery below.
